Chai on the “Cloud”: Balancing daily rituals with technology-induced change

Our lives our governed by daily rituals. We are all creatures of habit. One of the central tasks for an entrepreneur is to think of ways in which new technologies can preserve the comforting aspect of rituals but make them more efficient and accessible.  This is a tricky balance.  I will illustrate this with two examples in entrepreneurial settings, how my students and I have worked to marry technology with habits – first, bringing a steaming cup of ‘chai’, whether at work or at home, to you, and second, marrying technology with the daily clinical needs of those who suffer from the chronic disease epidemic hitting countries like India (diabetes, cardiac disease).
